The course contributes to the achievement of some of the educational objectives of the master program. Specifically, the course aims to provide skills related to: (1) advanced design of hydraulic infrastructure; (2) risk assessment and effects of natural events, such as floods; and (3) design and management of hydraulic infrastructure systems.
In addition, the course contributes to some of the intended learning outcomes of the program. Specifically, upon completion of the teaching, students will be (1) capable of coming up with original ideas and developing and solving complex engineering problems in hydraulics; (2) able to design major hydraulic works; (3) able to assess the risk associated with floods; and (4) able to have autonomy in making decisions in the implementation phases of hydraulic infrastructure.
